Lady Gaga Joins ‘Devil Wears Prada’ Sequel

Lady Gaga has joined The Devil Wears Prada‘s forthcoming sequel from 20th Century Studios in an undisclosed role.

Reps for the studio declined to comment. But word of Gaga’s casting spread when photos of her on set began circulating. First announced in July 2024, the sequel sees core cast members Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci returning.

Based on Lauren Weisberger’s 2003 novel of the same name, the original film followed Andy Sachs (Hathaway), a journalism graduate who moves to New York City and lands a very demanding job as junior assistant to Miranda Priestly (Streep), editor-in-chief of a high-fashion magazine. Slated for release on May 1, 2026, the sequel is expected to examine Priestly’s perspective as she faces the decline of the print industry.

Production kicked off on the sequel in June. Tracie Thoms and Tibor Feldman will also reprise roles from the first film, with Kenneth Branagh, Simone Ashley, Lucy Liu, Justin Theroux, B.J. Novak and Pauline Chalamet, Rachel Bloom and Patrick Brammall aboard in new roles.

David Frankel has returned to direct from a script by Aline Brosh McKenna, with Wendy Finerman and Karen Rosenfelt producing.

It’s been another busy year for Gaga, who released her album Mayhem on March 7 and hosted Saturday Night Live the same month. Headlining Coachella 2025 and kicking off her global Mayhem Ball tour in July, she’s most recently been seen playing the role of Rosaline Rotwood in the second season of Netflix’s hit series Wednesday.
