Leah Lewis is breaking her silence after her Matlock co-star David del Río was fired from the CBS legal drama for sexual assault.

In a post on Instagram Stories, Lewis shared a photo with her mom and thanked the people for the support she has been receiving during this time.

“Mom is here, we’re moving forward in love and strength. I’m in good hands,” she posted. “Thank you to everybody for any kind of support and care.”

She continued, “Truly, we’re moving forward in strength. Key word, strength. Please, let that be the takeaway.”

Lewis plays Sarah Franklin in the primetime drama, which stars Kathy Bates. Sarah is a first-year associate at Jacobson Moore, where the series takes place.

Earlier today, Deadline reported that after an investigation, Del Río was fired from Matlock following an incident on September 26 that involved Lewis. Following the internal investigation, Del Río was fired and escorted off the lot, the same day that the alleged assault was reported.

Matlock Season 2 is set to premiere on October 12, with the first half of the season already wrapped in filming. The show will be on a pre-planned hiatus and resume production after Thanksgiving.

Del Río played Billy Martínez, another first-year associate at the law firm, like Lewis’ Sarah.

Matlock also stars Skye P. Marshall as Olympia Lawrence and Jason Ritter as Julian Markston. The series also features recurring characters played by Eme Ikwuakor, Aaron Harris, Sam Anderson, Beau Bridges, among others. Justina Machado is set to join the cast in a recurring role for Season 2.
