Trump on ‘Ridiculous’ Bad Bunny Super Bowl Pick: ‘Never Heard of Him’

President Donald Trump weighed in on Bad Bunny being named the halftime show headliner for the 2026 Super Bowl, slamming the pick as “absolutely ridiculous.”

On Monday’s episode of Newsmax’s Greg Kelly Reports, the host asked Trump to weigh in on the announcement. “The NFL just chose the Bad Bunny rabbit or whatever his name is,” Greg Kelly said. “This guy, who hates ICE [Immigration and Customs Enforcement]; he doesn’t like you; he accuses everything he doesn’t like of racism.”

After he asked Trump if he would consider boycotting the NFL, Kelly said that Bad Bunny “does not seem like a unifying entertainer and a lot of folks don’t even know who he is.”

“I’ve never heard of him,” Trump said of the musician. “I don’t know who he is.”

While Trump said he wasn’t familiar with Bad Bunny’s music, he made it clear that he didn’t agree with the decision to have him headline the game. “I don’t know why they’re doing it. It’s crazy,” he said. “And then they blame it on some promoter they hired to pick up entertainment— I think it’s absolutely ridiculous.”

After Bad Bunny was named the headliner, Trump adviser Corey Lewandowski said ICE will be in attendance at the game. Additionally, Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem reiterated Lewandowski’s claims by insisting that ICE agents would be “all over” the Super Bowl.

Bad Bunny recently said that he didn’t include any U.S. dates on his latest tour partly because of worries about potential ICE raids.

“There were many reasons why I didn’t show up in the U.S., and none of them were out of hate — I’ve performed there many times. All of [the shows] have been successful,” he said. “But there was the issue of — like, fucking ICE could be outside [my concert]. And it’s something that we were talking about and very concerned about.”

Bad Bunny also addressed the conservative criticism of his upcoming halftime show performance when he hosted the season 51 premiere of Saturday Night Live on Oct. 4.

“You might not know this, but I’m doing the Super Bowl Halftime Show. And I’m very happy, and I think everybody’s happy about it,” he told the audience. “Even Fox News!”

The show then played a montage of edited segments designed to make it seem like the hosts were saying, “Bad Bunny is my favorite musician and he should be the next president.”

“I’m really excited to be doing the Super Bowl, I know that people all around the world who love my music are also happy,” Bad Bunny continued.

“Especially all of the Latinos and Latinas in the world here in the United States who have worked to open doors,” he then said in Spanish. “It’s more than a win for myself, it’s a win for all of us. Our footprints and our contribution in this country, no one will ever be able to take that away or erase it.”

The three-time Grammy winner ended the monologue by saying in English, “And, if you didn’t understand know what I just said, you have four months to learn!”
