North Carolina fans have had enough of Bill Belichick.
Fans were seen leaving Kenan Stadium en masse before halftime of the Tar Heels’ 38-10 blowout loss to Clemson on Saturday.
With two minutes left in the second quarter — and North Carolina already down 35-3 — the ESPN broadcast panned to dozens of fans walking from emptying stands in disappointment.
“Leaking oil right now,” Mark Jones said on the broadcast. “And the stadium leaking fans right now. 35 to 3, (Cade) Klubnik throwing his fourth touchdown pass of the afternoon and the meter is still running folks.”
Fellow commentator Roddy Jones added, “The Bill Belichick experiment so far has obviously been disappointing, but this one feels more deflating than the TCU one did.”
The fans indeed did not return after halftime, with the stadium being nearly empty at the start of the third quarter, with the majority of people left in the stands being Clemson fans.
In addition to fans leaving Saturday’s game in a mass exodus, the ESPN broadcast aired an interview where a Tar Heels student eviscerated Bill Belichick and the football program, mentioning their blowout loss to TCU on Sept. 1.
North Carolina student Anna Yi said that the Tar Heels’ lopsided 41-14 loss to the Horned Frogs was “one of the saddest feelings” she has had at the school.
“TCU was… I went to that game,” Yi said. “And that was, that was one of the saddest feelings I’ve had in University so far. I’ve failed midterms before, so that’s saying something.”
The broadcast crew brought Yi’s interview back up in the fourth quarter, with Mark Jones joking that Yi might need a tutor before he tore into North Carolina.
“I think maybe we need to get Anna a tutor first, so she doesn’t struggle with her next midterm,” Mark Jones said. “But, I’ll tell you what — if there’s a do-over, North Carolina would probably want one right now. Make-up test.”
“First off, Anna, the fact that you failed midterms with an ‘s’, plural; I’m with you, girl. I feel you,” Roddy Jones added. “Look, each Saturday is a test, and let’s just say, North Carolina has failed miserably now on its third of the year.

“I mean, these games against Power Four opponents — TCU, UCF, and now Clemson — have been uncompetitive.”
