It’s been weeks since a teenage girl’s dismembered body was discovered stuffed inside a Tesla, but Los Angeles police still have not named any suspects. Many have suspected the owner of the vehicle, a singer who goes by D4vd, is connected to the ongoing case. Now, he just hired a lawyer famous for defending one of the most notorious people in the industry.
As we previously told you, 15-year-old Celeste Rivas’ dismembered body was found wrapped in plastic in D4vd’s car in September, although he was in the middle of a world tour when the body was discovered. Police said he has been cooperative in their investigation. They did, however search a Los Angeles home that D4vd was renting, TMZ reported. He was spotted moving out of the same house days later.
The singer has faced much scrutiny since Rivas’ body was discovered. After losing partnerships and receiving threats, D4vd hired Blair Berk, a criminal defense attorney who reputation proceeds him, according to the New York Post.
Berk previously defended folks like Kanye West, Britney Spears, Lindsay Lohan, and Harvey Weinstein. The latter of whom was convicted of rape and sentenced to prison in 2023, the Guardian reported.
The medical examiner determined Rivas’ place of death was a “vehicle,” Fox 11 News reported. She had previously been reported missing from her home before her body was discovered.
The teenager was remembered by her family as a “beloved daughter, sister, cousin, and friend,” according to GoFundMe. The fundraising campaign has raised more than $24,000 of a $28,000 goal.
L.A. County Medical Examiner “deferred” Rivas’ cause of death, announcing additional testing needs to be done, KTLA reported. Investigators said her body was in D4vd’s Tesla for several weeks.
Photos and music videos of D4vd and Rivas together quickly began resurfacing online in light of her disappearance. The victim’s mother told police her daughter had a boyfriend named “David–” the same name as the singer D4vd. The singer has not made any statements in light of Rivas’ discovery. However, D4vd canceled the remaining dates on his world tour.
