Sony’s flagship headphones now work better with Samsung phones

Sony, known for making some of the world’s most popular wireless noise-cancelling headphones, is set to enhance features on select headphones when they are paired with Samsung’s Galaxy phones. If you have a Samsung phone with Bluetooth LE Audio, two flagship high-end Sony headphones will now support audio sharing and have better support for the AI assistant.

Sony’s flagship wireless headphones from 2022 and 2025 now support Auracast

Sony has announced that it’s bringing some new features to the WF-1000XM5 and WH-1000XM6. These headphones now support Audio Sharing via Fast Pair on phones with Bluetooth LE Audio. This feature allows you to pair two headphones simultaneously to your Galaxy phone, so both will stream the same audio. It’s perfect for you and your friend to listen to the same music from your phone wirelessly.

This feature is also supported on the Galaxy Buds 2 Pro, Galaxy Buds 3, and the Galaxy Buds 3 Pro. So you can play audio simultaneously on your Galaxy Buds 3 Pro and your friend’s Sony WF-1000XM5.

You can also create a private audio broadcast via a QR code or Google Fast Pair. With the new firmware update, both headphones will support head tracking over a Bluetooth LE Audio connection. You need to re-pair your Sony headphones with your Galaxy devices to start using Bluetooth LE Audio.

With Google’s Find Hub app on your Samsung phone or tablet, you can independently find left and right earbuds of the WF-1000XM5 if they are misplaced. Both headphones now also have Google’s Gemini Live, which is a conversational AI assistant that you can talk to continuously, interrupt mid-conversation, and change the topic.
