Taylor Swift‘s showgirl era is kicking off with a bang, breaking multiple records within the first day of her 12th studio album’s release.
On Friday, Spotify announced that Swift’s The Life of a Showgirl broke a 2025 record, while the album’s lead single ‘The Fate of Ophelia’ has broken an all-time record for the music streaming platform.
“On October 3rd, Taylor Swift’s The Life of a Showgirl became Spotify’s most-streamed album in a single day in 2025 so far,” Spotify announced on social media, adding that ‘Ophelia’ also “became the most-streamed song in a single day in Spotify history.”
In August, Swift announced The Life of a Showgirl as her next album. Deadline later exclusively reported that AMC had secured an Oct. 3-5 release for the album’s accompanying film of the same name.
Last month, Deadline exclusively reported that Taylor Swift: The Official Release Party of a Showgirl quickly earned $15 million in its first day of pre-sales, forecasting a $29M-$31M opening weekend at 3,700 theaters.
Swift is no stranger to breaking records, after the 14x Grammy winner’s Eras Tour made $2.2 billion in its two-year run, and the accompanying film became the most watched music film ever on Disney+ last year, in addition to a healthy box office run.
