Oct 3 – USA Rare Earth (NASDAQ:USAR) stock jumped more than 9% in early trading on Friday after CEO Barbara Humpton revealed the company has been in close discussions with President Trump’s administration.
The momentum carried into the regular session, where shares gained another 23%, signaling investor optimism around the company’s role in the rare earth supply chain.
Humpton told CNBC that the rare earth sector won’t be a zero-sum game, stressing the need for multiple players to build a resilient marketplace. She added that the company continues to keep Washington updated on its growth plans.
The move follows recent steps by Trump’s administration to strengthen U.S. control of critical minerals by securing stakes in other suppliers such as MP Materials (NYSE:MP) and Lithium Americas (NYSE:LAC).
The strategy reflects a broader push to reduce reliance on China and shore up domestic resources.
