Ghost of Yōtei’s day one patch brings significant performance improvements and photo mode additions

Sony has detailed a day one patch for Ghost of Yōtei, which brings performance improvements and photo mode additions.

Version 1.006 of the PS5 exclusive will be available for the game on its release – that’s tomorrow, 2nd October.

The full list of changes is extensive, but performance and stability tweaks include improvements to environmental rendering, Ray Tracing lighting consistency, and performance in missions with high character counts.

There are also a load of animation tweaks, to ensure cinematics present a more “emotional experience” and characters behave more naturally. This also includes animation-related bug fixes and clipping issues.

Other improvements to gameplay include better camera behaviour, limiting puzzle clues in some difficulty levels, and reduced occurrence of tutorials when camping, on top of plenty of bug fixes and balance adjustments.

Lastly, amid fixes to the user interface, the game’s Photo Mode includes new options such as stamps and new particles like birds native to Hokkaido.

The full list of patch notes have been shared by IGN.

Ghost of Yōtei is Sucker Punch’s follow-up to Ghost of Tsushima, set in northern Japan around 300 years later.

“Sucker Punch’s sequel offers more great swordplay and heartfelt storytelling, but would be better served as a linear action game, freed of its poor sidequests and dated open world,” reads our Eurogamer Ghost of Yōtei review.
