Saturday Night Live returns in October following its landmark 50th season that ran in 2024.
The NBC late-night sketch comedy show said goodbye to some familiar faces ahead of Season 51 in late summer, with five new cast members rotating into the mix. The hosts and musical guests have been set for the first three shows, which will kick things off in October.

Recently announced Super Bowl headliner Bad Bunny will return to Studio 8H for his second time hosting to helm Season 51’s premiere episode.

Other hosts confirmed so far include Parks and Recreation star Amy Poehler as well as Sabrina Carpenter, who will pull double duty for her Oct. 18 show, which marks her second time as musical guest and first hosting.

Bad Bunny will be accompanied by Doja Cat as musical guest, and Role Model will make his musical guest debut when Amy Poehler hosts Oct. 11, the 1975 original premiere date of the sketch comedy show.

Who will be in the cast of SNL Season 51? Who has left and who is new?
Newcomers ahead of Season 51 include Ben Marshall of the comedy troupe Please Don’t Destroy, who have contributed to the sketch show in the past and appeared in skits. The other two trio members — Martin Herlihy and John Higgins — are thought to be staying as a writer and leaving, respectively.
Four more newcomers alongside Marshall include Tommy Brennan, Jeremy Culhane, Kam Patterson and Veronika Slowikowska.

The returning cast had quite a shakeup with a sizeable exodus of veterans leaving the cast ahead of the new season.
Writer Celeste Yim, who contributed to the show for five years in the writers’ room, revealed the news of their departure in late August. Devon Walker was the first cast member to exit ahead of Season 51, later saying that it was a mutual decision. Emil Wakin followed Walker in August. Michael Longfellow was the third cast member to depart before the new season, as Deadline exclusively reported.
Heidi Gardner has also departed after eight years with the show. Ego Nwodim, who was initially thought to be staying, left after seven seasons, as Deadline first reported.
