The Cram fire northwest of Madras in Jefferson and Wasco counties is the largest wildfire burning in the country, according to the National Interagency Fire Center.
Saturday morning, officials said the fire grew more than 1,000 acres and now covers 95,631 acres with 775 people, 102 fire engines and eight helicopters battling it. It has destroyed four residences and two other buildings, according to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.
Officials say that crews established a line around the entire fire yesterday. “Cooler temperatures and higher humidity over the next few days will help firefighters put out hot spots and strengthen lines,” according to the fire’s Facebook page.
