In fact, if the first wave of reactions is mirrored by the full suite of reviews coming later this week, then The Fantastic Four could be one of the best MCU movies of the last decade.

First reactions on social media can sometimes be nothing more than a cherry-picked selection of positive reviews, curated with the intention of making a movie seem better than it really is. However, while there are no real negative reactions to Fantastic Four to be found, the recurring comments make it seem like the incredibly upbeat air about the film is what we will be seeing when reviews are officially submitted.
Phase Hero’s Brandon Davis called the film “visually one of the biggest things Marvel has ever made.” While also giving particular praise to the realisation of Galactus and the Silver Surfer. Daniel Baptista of The Movie Podcast backed this up, adding that Matt Shakman’s movie is “the definitive take on Marvel’s First Family” and “a future foundation for the MCU to build on.”
For Chris Killian of ComicBook, Fantastic Four “feels like Jack Kirby’s imagination brought to life on the big screen. Between this and Superman, 2025 might go down as the year movies finally embrace the wonderful weirdness of comic books.”

After years of trying to normalize comic book characters, whether that means changing bright costumes for black leather, or grounding some of their more elaborate powers, it feels like both DC and Marvel are finally unleashing the kind of comic-accurate craziness that fans have been wanting for decades.
