Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban have called it quits, according to People. The Babygirl star, 58, and the country crooner, 57, have separated, with a source telling the magazine, “Nicole’s sister [Antonia] has been a rock and the entire Kidman family has come together to support one another.”
“She didn’t want this,” the source added of Kidman. “She has been fighting to save the marriage.”
TMZ was the first to break the news of Kidman and Urban’s reported split on Monday, citing sources that the couple had reportedly been living apart “since the beginning of summer.” Kidman has custody of their two children and is “holding the family together through this difficult time since Keith has been gone,” according to TMZ. Urban, the outlet reported, has moved out of the family home in Nashville and has since moved into a property of his own, separate from Kidman and their daughters.
A new report from People elaborated on their split, with a source revealing that Urban’s decision to move out had served as the breaking point for the couple.
“Their lives were moving in different directions, and once he quietly set up his own place, it felt like the writing was on the wall,” a source told People, before adding, “It really hasn’t been a secret in their circles that Keith and Nicole have been living separately for a while now. … People close to Keith felt like the split was kind of inevitable.”
Kidman and Urban were together for nearly 20 years. In a 2019 interview with People, Kidman recalled how a sweet gesture from Urban on her 38th birthday in June 2005 solidified her feelings for him, telling the magazine he appeared on her apartment stoop at 5 a.m. holding a bouquet of gardenias.
“That is when I went, ‘This is the man I hope I get to marry,’” Kidman, who was previously married to Tom Cruise, said at the time. “I believed by that point he was the love of my life.”

The pair married a year later, in June 2006, and went on to have two daughters, Sunday, born in 2008, and Faith, born in 2010.
The couple appeared to be in a good place as of June 2025, when Kidman shared a loving anniversary tribute to Urban on Instagram. They were last seen in public together earlier that month when they attended a 2025 FIFA World Cup match in Nashville.
The Academy Award-winning actress, who has made frequent red carpet appearances with Urban at country music shows like the Country Music Awards and the American Country Music Awards, has often gushed about her singer-songwriter husband to the press.
“I’m so lucky that I have Keith, who’s just my love, my deep, deep love. That gives me the ability to go and do whatever I have to do because I know where I can come back to,” Kidman told People in 2024.
The “Straight Line” singer described a similar sense of certainty about Kidman being the love of his life in 2020, during an interview on Dax Shepard’s Armchair Expert podcast.
“She’s just the one. She’s the one that I was searching for my whole life, and everything not only changed but had to change in me if I was gonna go that road,” Urban said.
Neither Kidman nor Urban has released statements regarding their split.
