Sydney Sweeney Channels Britney Spears in Metallic Dress for Her Space-Themed Birthday

Simply stellar, Sydney Sweeney!

It was an out-of-this-world night for the Euphoria star, who celebrated her 28th birthday surrounded by family and friends clad in cosmic attire, including her own dazzling dress for the occasion.

Not only is the number adorned with stars, but it was previously worn by another star: Britney Spears.

Sweeney wore a sparkly, silver minidress with star-shaped embellishments throughout the strapless garment — the same dress that the pop superstar, 43, rocked nearly two decades ago during her Circus album era.

Spears is seen wearing the dress on the Circus (super deluxe edition) album cover, released in 2008. In contrast to Sweeney’s bare-legged styling, the singer slipped into black fishnet stockings and black platform pumps for the photo shoot.

The birthday girl, meanwhile, strutted around in matching metallic Rene Caovilla heels. To coordinate with the dress, which was plucked from The Blonds’ Spring/Summer 2009 collection, the shoes featured little silver stars on the straps that wrapped around her foot and ankle.

Outside of wearing the dress to her star-studded party filled with A-listers galore, the White Lotus star took part in a photo shoot herself, subtly recreating Spears’ album cover — sans the circus details.

Rather, Sweeney posed just like Spears, sitting on the floor with her legs bent to the side and her left hand resting on her left ankle, just how the singer is positioned for the album cover. Also like the pop icon, the actress gazed into the camera with her blonde locks flowing down her shoulders.

Sweeney posted a photo from the shoot on her Instagram, in addition to a collection of shots snapped from her party.

“welcome to planet syd 👽🛸🚀,” she captioned the carousel shared on Monday, Sept. 28.

Other notable attendees included Glen Powell, Jeff Bezos and his wife, Lauren Sánchez Bezos, Wiz Khalifa, Diplo and Sexyy Red.

Also at the party was Scooter Braun, the record executive with whom the actress has been spending time since the beginning of the month.

“She’s having fun with Scooter and enjoys dating him,” a source close to Sweeney told PEOPLE more than three weeks after PEOPLE first reported that the pair are “casually” dating on Sept. 2.

According to the source, Sweeney “had a great time celebrating her birthday with” Braun, the 44-year-old record executive and Justin Bieber’s former manager. Sweeney turned 28 on Sept. 12.

“He’s easy to be around and an intriguing guy,” the source adds of Braun. “[Sweeney] is back to work now, though. She feels very blessed to have such an amazing career. She’s very focused and super hard-working.”

On Sept. 28, the pair was seen holding hands when they made a trip to Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios Hollywood with friends and family.
