Capcom announces that Capcom Cup 12 Finals stream will be a pay-per-view event

We’re approaching the end of the twelfth Capcom Pro Tour season. Capcom Cup 12 is scheduled to begin on March 11, 2026 and conclude on March 14, 2026.

The event will feature a prize pool of $1,282,000. There’s quite an incentive to win this event as the champion will receive $1,000,000 of that.

Second place will receive $100,000 while third place will get $50,000. Following that, fourth place will go home with $20,000. Fifth and sixth are set to receive $10,000 each while seventh and eighth are getting $5,000.

Of course, all participants will be receiving some money for their efforts of making into the bracket. By going 0-2 at the big event, even the 48th player is going to get $1,500 for their troubles.

Recently, Capcom announced that they’re doing something with the Capcom Cup 12 stream that they’ve never done with any previous Capcom Cup broadcast. Unfortunately, this news suggests that viewership for the top 16 portion of the bracket will be greatly reduced compared to previous years.

The Capcom Cup 12 Finals will be switching to a pay-per-view format, similar to the Street Fighter League. Indeed, the price of admission is 4,000 yen (which converts to about $26.75).

Of course, the Street Fighter League World Cup will run the same price. Those that wish to spectate both events can acquire the package deal for 6,000 yen ($40.13).

This likely means that “watch parties” on Twitch and YouTube with popular streamers will be prohibited. Spectating the event live without payment won’t be possible.

On the brighter side, matches leading up to the top 16 will still be free to watch on both YouTube and Twitch. In other words, everyone should be able to watch the event up until the final day on Saturday.

Additionally, all replays will be free to download and watch spanning from March 21 to March 22, 2026. Though this means that spectators would have to watch without any live commentary.
