Three members of the Putman family, known for their reality television show “Growing Up Putman,” have been killed and several others have been hospitalized following a Friday night crash in Michigan.
A statement on the show’s Instagram page shared the news.
“Dear Friends and Family, I come to you with a heavy heart asking for your prayers,” the statement read. “Our family was in a tragic car accident and we lost Papa, Neenee, and Aunt Megan. They have gone home to be with the Lord. Please keep Uncle Blake, Lulu, Alena, Noah, and Gia in your prayers as they remain in the hospital, we are asking for complete healing and strength for each of them.”
The statement added that the family “all proclaim that Jesus Christ is our Lord and Savior.”
“He is our hope, our peace, and our salvation,” the statement read. “Even in this time of heartbreak, we rest in knowing that God is in control.”
The statement also asked for continued prayers for those recovering and for the family as they also deal with this “deep loss.”
“Thank you for every prayer, message, and act of love,” it read. “Your support means more than words can express. Please continue to lift us up, that our hearts remain fixed on the truth that Jesus conquered death so we could have eternal life.”
TMZ reported that the crash happened in Tuscola County, and that the sheriff’s office there sent out a press release that said it was a two-vehicle crash that resulted in a 55-year-old Florida man running a stop sign.
Per the outlet, police said the man’s semi truck collided with a Jeep occupied by eight individuals. Three were pronounced dead at the scene.
The Putman family was featured in their own show on TLC — “Meet the Putmans” — and after the show left there it was brought back on YouTube in 2021 as “Growing up Putman.”
However, per TMZ, the family has not produced a new episode in years.
