Carlos Ulberg may have punched his ticket to a UFC light heavyweight title shot.
In the main event of UFC Perth on Saturday at RAC Arena, Ulberg faced two-time title challenger Dominick Reyes in a hugely important 205-pound matchup. Ulberg delivered a huge moment, destroying Reyes with a vicious combination to earn a first-round knockout.
Ulberg stayed patient, waiting for his moment for Reyes to make a mistake. Reyes was incredibly hesitant throughout the opening stanza, and it led to his downfall.
The timing for the victory couldn’t have been better as next Saturday, Magomed Ankalaev defends his title against Alex Pereira in a main event rematch at UFC 320 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. In his post-fight interview with Paul Felder, Ulberg said he will be in the building for the UFC’s next pay-per-view event in hopes of facing the winner.
