—Derek Parker of SI writes that Mikel Brown Jr. is in perfect position to be a star at U of L this season.

—The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette thinks Eli Holstein could have a big day against Louisville’s secondary.

While the Cardinals have shown the ability to generate pressure — 10 sacks and three interceptions in their first three games — their secondary has been far less reliable. Louisville has allowed opponents to move the ball through the air with relative ease, something that hasn’t hurt them yet but could become a real liability in ACC play.

That’s particularly concerning this week against Pitt quarterback Eli Holstein, who enters the matchup averaging 274 passing yards per game, the fifth-best mark in the ACC. Holstein has thrown nine touchdowns to just three interceptions and has shown a strong rapport with his wideouts.

Brohm has said his defense will need to be at its best in a hostile environment, and it’s not hard to see why. Pitt has the ability to exploit mismatches on the outside, and if the Cardinals can’t contain those one-on-one battles, their offense may not be able to keep up.

Projected starting lineup

Top reserves: G Adrian Wooley, F Kasean Pryor, F Aly Khalifa, F Khani Rooths, G Kobe Rodgers, F Vangelis Zougris, F Mouhamed Camara

The scoop: You’d better pray Louisville is missing its 3-pointers, or you’re in boiling-hot water. This looks like the best-shooting roster in college basketball. Mikel Brown Jr., Ryan Conwell, Isaac McKneely and Adrian Wooley give Pat Kelsey four guards who could all shoot over 40% from long range on serious volume, and that should weaponize a sixth-year senior like J’Vonne Hadley to be the best version of himself as a high-energy cutter, rebounder and play-finisher. Louisville’s guards will carry this team, but each frontcourt piece does something different. Sananda Fru is the lob threat who can run the floor, rebound and defend. Kasean Pryor is a high-volume floor-stretcher. Aly Khalifa can dime you up from the top of the key. Vangelis Zougris is tougher than a $2 steak and has a mean streak in him.

Louisville has a real shot to be the No. 1 offense in the country, which they’ll need because the defense doesn’t have the personnel to be anything more than solid. Good luck beating Louisville in a shootout (or H-O-R-S-E).
