‘Social Network 2’ Release Date, Title & Cast Set

Sony Pictures has made Aaron Sorkin‘s The Social Network follow-up official, titling it The Social Reckoning and setting a fall theatrical release of October 9, 2026.

All of the castings that Deadline’s Justin Kroll first reported on over the summer have also been made official including Oscar nominee Jeremy Strong, who’ll play the role of Mark Zuckerberg; Oscar winner Mikey Madison, who will portray whistleblower Frances Haugen; and Golden Globe and Emmy winner Jeremy Allen White, who’ll portray Wall Street Journal reporter Jeff Horowitz, who broke a series of articles known as The Facebook Files. Those October 2021 news reports exposed the inner workings of — and multiple harms caused by — Facebook.

Bill Burr (Old Dads, The King of Staten Island) is also starring.

Todd Black, Peter Rice, Sorkin and Stuart Besser are producing.

The Social Reckoning‘s release date falls on the Indigenous Peoples’ Day four-day frame and will face Universal’s Other Mummy from director Rob Savage and Paramount Animation’s The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender.

The Social Network was released in 2010 by Sony Pictures and grossed more than $226 million worldwide. Nominated for eight Oscars including Best Picture, the film won three, including Sorkin for Adapted Screenplay, Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross for Original Score, and Kirk Baxter and Angus Wall for Film Editing.

The movie starred a fresh-faced cast in Jesse Eisenberg as Zuckerberg, Rooney Mara, Andrew Garfield, and Armie Hammer, and teed them off for big-screen careers.
