No. 8 Florida State kicks off conference play this Friday, taking on the Virginia Cavaliers on the road in a 7 p.m. matchup (ESPN).
The Cavaliers come into the matchup sitting at 3-1 (1-0 ACC), having dropped a non-conference matchup against NC State (a 34-31 loss in which Virginia led 24-14 at halftime) in Week 2, but coming off a 48-20 conference-play opening win over Stanford.
It’ll be a matchup of two high-flying offenses, with the No. 1 scoring offense in Florida State (58) and the No. 11 in Virginia (45.5).
Ahead of the game, the two teams provided an availability report to the ACC, part of the conference’s new mandate that went into effect this season.
Notably, Florida State is reporting QB Tommy Castellanos as probable, with WR Jayvan Boggs listed as questionable for the matchup.
During his Monday morning media availability, Mike Norvell gave his opinion on providing an injury report, given that this is the first time the ACC has implemented the policy:
“It’s fine. For whatever the purpose or the reason, I think there are a lot of different levels, and we will see how it all plays out when you see it in effect.”
