A quarterback’s hotdogging performance was frankly the wurst possible outcome for a Chicago restaurant: Thousands lined up at the Wieners Circle on Tuesday for free hot dogs following Caleb Williams’ impressive showing in the Bears’ victory Sunday.
It began with an X post on Friday, when Chicago’s renowned wiener purveyors promised to give away free hot dogs if the Chicago Bears quarterback threw four touchdown passes against the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday.
Williams rose to the occasion, throwing for 298 yards and four touchdowns in the Bears’ 31-14 drubbing of the Cowboys, Chicago’s first win of the season.
Immediately following Williams’ fourth touchdown throw, the Wieners Circle responded on X, stating, “Oh s—! @ViennaBeef want to chip in? lol”
On Monday, dozens of Vienna Beef hot dog boxes were seen being delivered to the restaurant, NBC Chicago reported.
The Wieners Circle told the outlet it would give away one free hot dog per customer from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., or until supplies ran out.
People began lining up outside the restaurant early Tuesday, forming lines that stretched down blocks as fans waited for hours to snag a free hot dog, according to NBC Chicago.
Joining the thousands of people who participated in the giveaway, Williams’ fan-favorite bulldog Supa made a special appearance, sporting a Williams jersey outside the restaurant.
The Chicago Bears posted a photo to social media of Williams’ hot dog waiting for a hot dog with the caption, “The Supa-visor is here.”
