Baldur’s Gate 3 is one of the best games ever made, I think we can all agree on that. Despite its excellence, its Steam Deck performance leaves a little to be desired, especially in Act 3. I’m happy to say that this has changed starting today! Hotfix 34 comes with a native build for the Steam Deck.

This is huge, and Larian Studios has gone above and beyond in making Baldur’s Gate 3 run as best as possible on the Steam Deck and low-end hardware alike. With this native build, the game will run smoother without the Proton compatibility layer, which saves some CPU processing power and memory consumption.
There is a lot to think about with this, so Larian put together a Q/A which you can check out both on the update page and here. Saves and some mods might need to be manually moved over if you haven’t got Steam Cloud turned on, but Larian has a guide for that as well. Either way, we should be seeing some solid boosts to performance and reducing framerate spikes in busy areas, like Act 3’s Lower City.

Baldur’s Gate 3 is available on Steam for $59.99.
