The 49ers received some very unfortunate injury news on Monday morning.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, defensive end Nick Bosa tore his ACL in San Francisco’s win over the Cardinals on Sunday. He’s set to undergo surgery and will miss the remainder of the 2025-26 season.
Bosa left the first half of Sunday’s game under his own power, limping off the field before lying down on the 49ers’ sideline. As he was helped to the locker room by team trainers, he gave a “thumbs down” sign, signifying that he knew his prognosis was bleak.
Unfortunately, he was right.
This is the second time Bosa has torn his ACL in his NFL career, having done so in his left knee back in 2020. It’s his right knee this time, with Schefter adding that it’s a “clean tear,” and that the 27-year-old will undergo season-ending surgery.
Bosa becomes the latest key player for San Francisco to go down with an injury. The team is currently without quarterback Brock Purdy, tight end George Kittle, and wide receivers Brandon Aiyuk and Jauan Jennings. Despite the attrition, they sit at 3-0 to begin the 2025 season.
The 49ers host the Jaguars next Sunday for a 4:05 p.m. ET kickoff from Levi’s Stadium.
