In a poem entitled, “The best thing you can / do for your / marriage,” it reads: One way to surely / get ahead, / is get rid of that / king-size mattress, / and sleep in a / queen-size bed.”
In an accompanying interview with Fox News Digital, he spoke about how the king-sized beds weren’t good for their marriage.
“We have kids and we go to our friend’s house and he has one of these double king-size beds put together and all the kids sleep in the bed. The wife’s on one side with her side table, and the husband’s on the other side, and it’s great when you got all three kids, but all of a sudden the kids get too big. They’re out of the bed,” he started.
“I wake up one morning … I’m looking over there and Camilla’s like a football field away man,” he added, saying the larger bed was “not good for the marriage, man.” He continued, “So we got a queen-size where we’re shoulder to shoulder.” I’m telling you, it’s good for your marriage.”
For those who don’t know, Alves and the How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days star met in a club back in 2006, and Matthew later described it as love at first sight in a 2020 interview with Oprah Winfrey, via People. They got engaged on Christmas Day in 2011. Less than a year later, they wed on June 9, 2012. They share three children together named Levi, born in July 2008, Vida, born in Jan 2010, and Livingston, born in Dec 2012.
Along with their staycations and seeing each other often, McConaughey revealed how he and Alves keep a happy home during an interview with Today Extra in Australia. “Don’t make a straight line crooked,” he said. “If things are going well, keep catching green lights. If they’re not, deal with them soon so they don’t bubble up and get you later.”
Plus, in a previous interview with SheKnows in 2022, Alves talked about healthy meal times with her kids, and how she wants them to be heard with every topic in their household. “We have a lot of dialogue,” she said. “I really like the kids to be able to express themselves and how they feel.”
