Apple A19 vs A19 Pro: CPU and GPU benchmarks reveal performance gap between Apple’s latest chipsets

While the A19 Pro is the star of the show, Apple also released a standard A19 for the vanilla iPhone 17. The A19 Pro is a known quantity at this point but how does the regular A19 compare?

Rather interestingly, the A19 Pro consistently outperforms the A19 on CPU benchmarks despite seemingly having the same CPU core configuration and clock speeds. As tested on Geekbench by Xiaobai’s Tech Reviews, for example, the A19 Pro scores 3,981 and 10,798 on the single-core and multi-core tests. The A19 scores 3,852 and 10,072 comparatively.

When tested in forced cooling conditions, the A19 Pro scores 4,019 and 11,054 versus the A19’s 3,849 and 10,307. Those numbers show around a 6% delta in the CPU performance of the two chipsets, and that may be down to the A19 Pro having more system-level cache.

On the GPU side, the A19 is expectedly a worse performer than the A19 Pro. It’s down a GPU core to its Pro sibling after all. The A19 Pro earns a score of 6,557 on 3DMark’s WildLife Extreme test, while the A19 scores 5,736. On the Solar Bay Extreme test, it’s the A19 Pro’s 2,411 versus the A19’s 2,112. Lastly, the A19 Pro scores 2,956 on the Steel Nomad Light test, whereas the A19 delivers a score of 2,566.

All considered, the A19 Pro outdoes the A19 by about 15% in the GPU department. While that means owners of the standard iPhone 17 lose out on some performance compared to the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max, the A19 still handily outperforms the A18 Pro on the iPhone 16 Pro Max by upwards of 20% on the GPU side.
