We’ve already taken a look at some of the cool cards you’ll soon be able to find in the upcoming Pokémon Trading Card Game expansion, Mega Evolution. Still, we’re just so excited about this new collection of cards that we’re going back for another peek. We have a Mega Evolution Pokémon ex, an illustration rare card, one of the Treasures of Ruin, a popular Pokémon Trainer, and more, so check them out now, and get ready for Mega Evolution’s launch on September 26, 2025.
Mega Latias ex’s speed and power are on full display in this special illustration rare card that shows the Mega-Evolved Legendary Pokémon blasting through the night sky above a skyscraper-filled city. Unleash that power on your opponent with this Dragon-type Pokémon’s Illusory Impulse attack. For 
Energy, you’ll hit their Active Pokémon for an impressive 300 damage. The only downside is that you’ll need to discard all Energy attached to Mega Latias ex to use it. If you need to swap a new Pokémon into the Active Spot, Mega Latias ex’s Strafe attack allows it to change places with a Benched Pokémon for just one Energy (and it even does 40 damage to your opponent’s Active Pokémon as it leaves).
Steelix looks remarkably intimidating as it looms large on this illustration rare card. Considering its powerful attacks, though, there’s good reason to be cautious when going up against this Pokémon. If you can get Steelix into play early in the game, Welcoming Tail can be particularly punishing. For just Energy, you’ll hit your opponent for 240 damage, assuming you still have six Prize cards remaining (it will only do 40 damage if you’ve lost any Prize cards). Steelix’s Skull Bash attack has a greater cost of 
Energy, but it does a consistent 140 damage.
For a Legendary Pokémon that swims through lava that it creates by melting rock, Chi-Yu looks surprisingly huggable, even as it’s surrounded by flames. This diminutive member of the treasures of ruin may not have an attack that does extensive damage, but Scorching Earth is invaluable if your opponent relies on Stadium cards for their strategy. For just one Energy, this attack not only torches your opponent’s Stadium card off the field but it also prevents them from playing a Stadium card from their hand during their next turn. The 40 damage the attack causes is just a little bonus to the disruption.
The focused glare on Lillie’s face definitely shows the determination of this card’s name. Given what this Supporter card lets you do, Lillie is determined to help get the cards you need into your hand. Playing Lillie’s Determination allows you to shuffle your hand into your deck and draw six new cards. Whether you have a sizeable hand filled with cards you can’t use or you’re down to just one or two cards, Lillie’s Determination will freshen your selection. As a bonus, if you happen to still have six Prize cards remaining, you can draw an extra two cards, giving you even more options with which to work.
Electrify your opponent by hitting them with Magneton’s Thunder Shock. While this attack only does 30 damage, it will Paralyze your opponent’s Active Pokémon, taking them out of commission during their next turn. Who would have guessed that such an adorable Pokémon (just look at those cute little energy waves radiating off it!) could have the potential to be such an annoyance during battle?
We’re intrigued by Tyrogue’s appearance on this card as it clings to some pipes on the side of a building. Is it scaling the structure? Climbing down? And what is it staring at so intensely? The answer, of course, is left up to the viewer, but given the Fighting-type Pokémon’s frown and furrowed brow, we wouldn’t want to be on the receiving end of its Pow-Pow Punching attack. With a mechanic similar to the Mega Kangaskhan ex card we looked at in our first Mega Evolution preview, this attack lets you flip a coin when you use it. The more heads you land on before getting tails, the stronger the attack becomes. In this case, Pow-Pow Punching does a meager 10 damage at first, but each heads you get adds an extra 30 to the attack’s power.
