D4vd reportedly cancels U.S. tour after body of 15-year-old girl found in his impounded car; police search home in Hollywood Hills

Singer D4vd has reportedly canceled the rest of his U.S. tour after the human remains of a teenage girl were found earlier this month in the trunk of his impounded Tesla.

D4vd, whose real name is David Anthony Burke, was scheduled to perform in Los Angeles on Saturday and was set to make an appearance at the Grammy Museum next week. Both of those events, however, have been removed from their official websites. While tickets for D4vd’s show in San Francisco on Friday are still on sale, TMZ reported that the singer’s team has decided to cancel all remaining dates.

A house in the Hollywood Hills neighborhood of Los Angeles was reportedly searched on Wednesday night as part of an investigation into the human remains that were found in a car that was registered to D4vd. The 15-year-old girl, Celeste Rivas, was identified through forensics on Wednesday, law enforcement told NBC Los Angeles. The cause of death is still unknown, and the Los Angeles County medical examiner is working to determine how Rivas died.

Who is singer D4vd?

The 20-year-old singer-songwriter, known for his indie, R&B and alt-pop sound, rose to fame after he went viral on TikTok and has more than 33 million monthly listeners on Spotify. D4vd is known for hits like “Romantic Homicide” and “Here With Me,” both of which have over 1 billion streams on Spotify. He was set to conclude his world tour in Los Angeles at the end of September.

D4vd was previously unveiled as the face of Crocs and Hollister’s “Dream Drop” collaboration, though the brands removed him from the campaign after Rivas’s remains were found.

Though the artist himself has not made any public statements regarding the case, authorities say that he is cooperating with investigators.

What happened, and how is D4vd involved?

Shortly before 12:30 p.m. PT on Sept. 8, LAPD officers responded to Hollywood Tow on North Mansfield Avenue in Los Angeles after someone reported smelling a strong odor coming from a vehicle at the impound lot.

A dismembered body, which has since been identified as 15-year-old Rivas, was found inside a plastic bag located in the front trunk of a 2023 Tesla registered in Hempstead, Texas, to singer D4vd.

The Los Angeles Medical Examiner’s Office said the corpse was of a woman about 5 feet 2 inches tall with black wavy hair and a distinct “Shhhh” tattoo on her finger. Rivas was wearing a tube top, black leggings, a yellow metal bracelet and metal stud earrings. D4vd, like Rivas, appears to have the same “Shhhh” tattoo.

The Tesla bearing Texas license plates was towed after it was found abandoned five days prior at Bluebird Avenue and Doheny Drive in the Hollywood Hills area, according to police.

Meanwhile, one day after human remains were found in the Tesla, a second body was found in a separate tow yard in South Los Angeles. Family members had filed a missing persons report and reportedly tracked the woman to a scorched Honda Civic at an impound lot on West Gage Avenue. When the family members wanted to look at the car, the tow yard operator called the Los Angeles Police Department. Investigators arrived at the scene and found the woman’s partially burned body in the trunk, police said.

Investigators have said they don’t believe the Tesla case in Hollywood Hills is related to the Honda Civic case in South Los Angeles.

Who is Celeste Rivas?

Rivas was reported missing in April 2024, when she disappeared from Lake Elsinore, Calif., which is located about 70 miles southeast of Los Angeles. Rivas’s mother told TMZ that she was concerned by the news that the Tesla was registered under the musician’s real name, because she said Rivas had a boyfriend named David.

A former teacher at Lakeland Village High School, where Rivas was a student, also told TMZ that Rivas had met D4vd on social media.

After the medical examiner identified the body as that of Rivas, D4vd’s scheduled Wednesday concert at Showbox SoDo in Seattle, part of his Withered World tour, was canceled. As of Friday, D4vd’s official website still lists his scheduled performance at the Warfield in San Francisco as still taking place on Friday.

A GoFundMe was set up earlier this week by Rivas’s family to “help lay her body to rest.” As of Friday afternoon, the fundraiser reached 70% of its $20,000 goal.

What’s the latest on the investigation?

A Hollywood Hills house was searched on Wednesday night in connection with the discovery of Rivas’s body. Law enforcement sources told KABC that D4vd had been staying at the home that was searched, while TMZ reported that LAPD homicide detectives walked out of the house with a computer and several evidence bags.

“Several items of evidence were recovered and will be analyzed by detectives in the coming days,” an LAPD spokesperson also told People. “Investigators are following up on several leads.”
