Zac Taylor hasn’t shut the door on a Joe Burrow return this season

The Cincinnati Bengals (2-0) were dealt a massive blow when their franchise QB went down with a severe turf toe injury.

Fans may feel dejected, but there is still hope Burrow returns in time for a playoff run.

Today, head coach Zac Taylor told reporters that he hasn’t shut the door on Burrow returning this season.

Of course, the surgery hasn’t even taken place yet, so the first step is for that to go successfully and to get another evaluation.

But there is good reason to believe that, if Cincinnati is still in contention, we could see Burrow again late in the year.

Naturally, when an injury like this happens, people will want to assign blame.

Is it Burrow’s playing style or the o-line’s poor performances?

The data suggests it’s actually both.

Burrow is near the bottom when it comes to sacks prevented, but so is his offensive line.

Now, though, all eyes turn to backup Jake Browning, who certainly has the big-play attitude to utilize Ja’Marr Chase, Tee Higgins, and even Mitchell Tinsley effectively.

The question is whether he can play disciplined enough to cut down on turnovers.

I talked about Burrow’s injury and how far Jake Browning can take the team in the show with Zim Who Dey below.
