What if I told you that the Coachspeak Index Discord is the biggest edge in all of fantasy football?
Okay, sure, everyone says that about their product. Good point.
What if Evan Silva and Scott Barrett and a bunch of other giants in the industry told you that the Coachspeak Index Discord is the biggest edge in all of fantasy football?
I’ve devoted my life to watching every press conference from every NFL head coach, offensive coordinator, and general manager. I write down all the most important quotes from those pressers, and place them into the CSI Discord. It’s a truly magnificent treasure trove of information.
Fantasy Football Coachspeak Index Targets
Here are five targets for the 2025 season, based on coachspeak I’ve pulled from the CSI Discord:
Chase Brown (RB – CIN)
Some of the coachspeak:
HC Zac Taylor (June 12): “He’s done a great job edging in there with a ton of great playmakers on offense and making himself a priority, like, we gotta get this guy the ball in as many ways as possible. And you say that with all the other weapons we already have. And so that’s just a credit to him, to find his niche and force us to have to give him the ball as many times as possible.”
OC Dan Pitcher (July 23): “I think Chase Brown is going to, by the end of the season, be a household name.”
“He’s everything that Austin Ekeler was… I think that by the time the season’s over, [you’ll all] know who he is.”
Zac, you had me at “edging.”
Sign me up for a good workhorse back in a premier offense that will spend the season chasing all the points their defense is giving up.
Tetairoa McMillan (WR – CAR)
Some of the coachspeak:
HC Dave Canales (April 24): He’s a baller. There’s a simple way to look at it when you watch film – the ballers show up and they make plays in big moments and they’re always looking to do something special.
Canales (June 3): He has a consistent ability to win at the top of the route. He uses his hands well. He has great body control for having that kind of frame and size. He’s such a friendly target, because he attacks the ball – whenever it’s thrown to him, you’ll see him come back towards the ball.
Canales (July 25): “He’s going to get targeted a lot. He’s going to be a big part of what we do.”
Tetairoa McMillan in a Dave Canales offense helmed by Bryce Young is such a perfect fit, it makes me want to undergo an experimental surgery where I’m transformed into a fortune cookie. When you ask me why I did that, and what it had to do with McMillan and the Carolina offense, I break myself open as my final act, and there’s a fortune inside that reads, “Dave Canales’ offense necessitates an alpha X receiver who can win deep, but also all over the field, and Tetairoa McMillan’s ability to win on horizontally-breaking routes meshes with what Bryce Young does best. A perfect fit! Goodbye.”
The lucky numbers on the back of that fortune end up winning the lottery, by the way, but you didn’t play them.
Jameson Williams (WR – DET)
Some of the coachspeak:
OC John Morton (May 13): Jameson Williams can go from 0-to-60, fast. It’s amazing, I haven’t been around a guy like him. I mean, it’s two players with him and Jahmyr Gibbs. That explosion. I was around Reggie Bush, and that kind of explosion is impressive. Those two guys have it.
“He has been unbelievable. Unbelievable… I’m so excited to see him this year. It’s gonna be a breakout year for him. So, I can’t wait. I just can’t wait, man.”
HC Dan Campbell (May 30): So much versatility with him. There are so many things that we can do just with his routes on the outside. And we can do things on the inside. With his speed, and he’s gotten so much stronger. His ability to stop and put his foot in the ground. When you can run like he can run, and you can stop on a dime, you’re talking about a hard cover. “So, the sky’s the limit for him.”
“We expect him to have a huge season. We really do, man. He’s gonna be one of these guys that we’re gonna lean on this year and is really gonna be big for us.”
Campbell (June 5): We’ve tweaked a few things here and there on offense. It’s about what John Morton really wants, how he sees it, how he wants things run, how he wants to isolate certain players – a lot of the focal point was Jameson Williams and Jahmyr Gibbs and Sam LaPorta, among others.
Morton (July 28): You’ve seen Jameson Williams’ skill set. He’s explosive. He’s gotten better every year. “I want to take that skill set and isolate him… I’m very excited where he’s at right now. He’s gonna help us win some big games.”
Dan Campbell has a 90% reliability rating on usage/workload coachspeak. Very few people believed him last year when he stated that Jameson Williams was going to break out. And now people are doubting Campbell once again. “How could Jameson Williams break out any more than he already did?” Uhhhh, I dunno, man, maybe if he becomes more of a focal point in the offense like all the coaches are talking about??
Tyler Warren (TE – IND)
Some of the coachspeak:
GM Chris Ballard (April 24): Tyler Warren was an easy pick. There wasn’t a lot of discussion.
He can do a lot. He can play multiple spots. He’s got the quarterback background, so he can play in the backfield. He’s a great 50/50 ball catcher. He’s violent after the catch. He brings an element of toughness that I thought we needed to add offensively.
“I think Shane [Steichen] will find unique ways to use him.”
He’s one of those guys who’s always open. That’s part of his uniqueness. His hands are pretty rare. I thought he had the best hands of any player in the draft. He’s a unique dude.
He’s gonna be able to handle a high volume of whatever we ask him to do.
HC Shane Steichen (May 10): We’ll have some fun with all the things Tyler Warren is able to do.
OC Jim Bob Cooter (July 29): We’re putting a lot on Tyler Warren’s plate. I think he’s gonna be a very versatile piece for us. We’re gonna try a bunch of different stuff with him, give him a bunch of shots at a bunch of different aspects of playing offensive football. I think he’s gonna do a bunch of it really, really well.
The Colts are building the entire plane out of Tyler Warren. The only question is how long Shane Steichen will remain the pilot.
Tucker Kraft (TE – GB)
Some of the coachspeak:
HC Matt LaFleur (January 14): [on whether there’s a possibility that Tucker Kraft in Green Bay’s offense could do what George Kittle or Travis Kelce do] “100%. And I think that’s on us to make sure that we find him and feature him. When he gets the ball in his hands, you feel him. So, if there is an area that we gotta do a better job on, I would say featuring the tight end.”
OC Adam Stenavich (May 12): There’s a lot of opportunity for Tucker Kraft going into this year. We spent some time this offseason on where we can get him to take the next step. “Just trying to find different ways to get him the ball, that’s gonna be the big thing for us.”
Stenavich (July 30): Tucker Kraft is a playmaker. “Any time we can get the ball in his hands, good things happen.”
If your tight end led the NFL in YAC, it would probably be a smart idea to get the ball into his hands more. Matt LaFleur is a smart coach. Tucker Kraft is set to smash this year, especially during Toyotathon.
