5 Chargers Players to Watch in Preseason Game vs. Rams

All eyes will be on this one.

The Bolts will play their third exhibition game Saturday against the Rams, a contest that Justin Herbert will start in his first-ever preseason action.

Kickoff from SoFi Stadium is at 4 p.m. (PT).

Here are five players to watch in the Chargers third preseason game:

You knew Herbert was making this list.

When your franchise quarterback has never appeared in preseason action, the chance for him to get his first reps there is a big deal.

Herbert said Thursday that he recently went to Chargers Head Coach Jim Harbaugh with the idea of playing in the preseason.

Herbert is expected to play “a series, could be two,” according to Harbaugh, but the reps should be beneficial given the Bolts season opener against the Chiefs in Brazil is three weeks away.

Perhaps Herbert mostly hands the ball off Saturday, but it’s a good bet he gets a few throws in, too,

No matter what happens, it will be fun to watch No. 10 in preseason action.

The Bolts have had to shuffle their offensive line in the past week after Rashawn Slater was lost for the season with a knee injury.

Joe Alt has switched sides and is now manning Slater’s spot at left tackle, meaning Pipkins is now the Chargers starting right tackle.

It’s a spot Pipkins knows well as he has 2,700-plus career snaps there, and the Bolts will need him to step up in 2025 to help offset the loss of Slater.

Pipkins likely won’t play much Saturday, but a strong showing would be a confidence boost for the offensive line with the regular season looming.
