The San Francisco 49ers announced a handful of transactions ahead of Monday’s practice. Quarterbacks Carter Bradley and Tanner Mordecai were waived/injured. Head coach Kyle Shanahan said he believed Mac Jones would be ready by Week 1. Now that the preseason is over, Brock Purdy will take the lion’s share of reps at practice.
Defensive linemen Jaylon Allen and Shakel Brown were waived, while running back Ke’Shawn Vaughn was released. Offensive tackle Isaiah Prince was placed on the Injured Reserve List.
Brown played 23 snaps in the season finale and recorded one pressure while batting a pass. It’s never easy when you get a late start. Brown appeared in two preseason games and played 38 snaps. He recorded a single pressure and run stop in 38 snaps.
Brown played in all three preseason games. He registered seven pressures, which sounds good on the surface, but left a lot to be desired against the run and as a tackler. At 240 pounds, Allen was always facing an uphill battle.
