$200 MGS Delta Collector’s Edition Ridiculed Over Temu-Esque Snake Figurine

Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater PS5 1

Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is a PS5 remake well worth playing no matter whether you’ve played it before or if this will be your first time, but we’d recommend sticking with the base version rather than upgrading to the fancy $200 collector’s edition.

This is because, following the full release over the past 24 hours, the pricy physical version has been reaching excited purchasers’ homes, and the quality of the main attraction, the terrarium diorama, is leaving a hell of lot to be desired.

It’s meant to depict the opening gameplay scene, where Snake retrieves his backpack after the HALO jump. He’s shown answering a codec call underneath a tree with his backpack hanging above. However, fans have taken the Snake figure out of the diorama for a close-up inspection, and the figure does not really look like Snake at all. It’s like if you ordered Snake off Temu.

Take a look at the Snake figure below:

Here’s a closer look at the figurine’s face, which hardly resembles Snake at all:

Alongside the terrarium diorama, you get the game in a metal case, two clothing patches, and Snake’s ID card lanyard. Everything then comes packaged inside a “Collector’s Box”, all for $200. Given the quality of the diorama, this does not seem worth it.

Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater PS5 2

We recommend sticking with the base $70 version, as you’ll get “the best version of an undisputed classic”. In our 9/10 rated MGS Delta: Snake Eater PS5 review, we concluded: “One of the most faithful remakes ever, Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater has made a stealth classic feel modern all over again. Its light but meaningful gameplay updates enhance interaction and feel, while a visual overhaul allows it to rub shoulders with the PS5’s graphical elite.”
